The collection of municipal waste has a direct impact on the preservation of the urban environment in terms of sanitary and environmental significance.

The collection of municipal waste from the territory of the City of Skopje is carried out by vessels for its temporary accommodation - containers with a capacity of 1100 liters, underground containers with a capacity of 3000 liters, containers with a volume of 5000 liters and plastic containers with volume of 120 liters.

The transport of municipal waste is carried out with special utility communal vehicles, adapted to the installed vessels for its prpose.

The dynamics of collection and transportation of municipal waste from the territory of the City of Skopje is determined depending on:

- Population density;

- The quantity of generated communal waste;

- The structure of communal waste;

- The manner of behavior of users in the urban environment;

- Infrastructure traffic conditions;

- The type and number of utility waste containers.

For the complete collection and transport of municipal waste according to the established dynamics, the Skopje city has been covered by the general urban plan which is divided into an appropriate number of blocks.
